  • 1 slice sourdough bread
  • ½ ea large avocado
  • ½ teaspoon lemon juice

1 slice sourdough bread, ½ ea large avocado, ½ teaspoon lemon juice, 6 ea blackberries
  • Spread avocado mash evenly onto toasted sourdough.
  • Slice blackberries in half and place on top. Add almond slices, and drizzle honey on top. Enjoy!
1 teaspoon almond slices, 1 teaspoon honey

Notes

  • Toast and mash to your preference. For chewier bread, toast it on the lighter end. For crunchier, nuttier bread, toast it longer. Thoroughly mash the avocado to make it smooth and creamy, or give it just a few mashes to keep it chunky.
  • Adjust the toppings to taste. Sprinkle on sea salt to balance the sweetness, add an extra squeeze of lemon for brightness, garnish with baby dill for an herbaceous twist, a pinch of flaky sea salt for seasoning, or garnish the blackberry toast with crumbled feta for a briny finish. You can also add a drizzle of balsamic vinegar for tang or chili pepper for a spicy kick.
  • Enjoy fresh. The bread is best when served fresh. It does not store well, so make only enough to serve.
  • Making it for a crowd. Add a healthy and tasty dish to your weekend brunch spread with a platter of this sourdough avocado toast! Multiply the recipe by the desired amount, toasting the bread on a rimmed baking sheet at 350°F for 10 minutes, flipping it halfway until toasted to your liking.
